Urochem 309
LOW VISCOSITY EPOXY CRACK INJECTION COMPOUND
DESCRIPTION
Urochem 309 is a low viscosity, solvent free, epoxy compound. It is unfilled, moisture resistant and exhibits excellent flow and adhesion to concrete. It is used for the repair of static cracks in concrete that cracked due to excessive loading or the inadequate provision of expansion joints. Effective repairs of these faults can be carried out using Urochem 309. This product can be injected into hair-line cracks too fine to be filled with traditional materials or can be gravity fed into horizontal cracks. Because epoxy resin systems have a higher mechanical strength than concrete it will restore the concrete to its original monolithic strength.
Also used for the bonding of starter bars or dowel bars in a vertical application.
HORIZONTAL APPLICATION
- For horizontal cracks, mix Urochem 309 and simply pour in the crack injection compound.
- It may be necessary to make a small surface reservoir with a sealant or glazing putty, by creating a barrier around the perimeter of the crack.
- Care should be taken to seal the rear of any crack that penetrates through the substrate to prevent excessive use of the product.
PRODUCT APPLICATION
Urochem 309 can be used to restore silos, water retaining structures, columns, beams, floors, bridge decks and other structural members including those found in older buildings. Used for the bonding of starter/dowel bars vertically into concrete.
VERTICAL APPLICATION
Clean the crack and vacuum or blow out all dust and debris. Bond on injection nipples or plates containing injection nipples using Urochem 305. Seal the face of the crack to prevent excessive material wastage and allow the epoxy adhesive to cure before injection commences.
SURFACE PREPARATION
All surfaces to be clean, sound, and dry.
SAFETY
Contact with the skin should be avoided by wearing gloves, eye protection and protective clothing. In case of eye contact wash well and obtain medical advice. Use only in well ventilated areas.
CLEANING
Clean all tools and equipment immediately after use with Urochem 901 as the cured material is very difficult to remove.
MIXING
- Urochem 309 is supplied in a two-part kit, base, and activator in separate tins.
- Transfer the total quantity of activator into the base component and mix thoroughly using a slow speed electric drill fitted with a flat blade stirrer.
- Scrape down the sides of both tins and remix until the colour is uniform and free from streaks.
- Thorough mixing is essential and should take 3 to 5 minutes.
